Polygon Transaction Fees Explained

(0)
$40.00

Polygon transaction fees use EIP-1559: (Base Fee + Priority Fee) x Gas Used = Total Fee in POL. Understanding each component helps optimize costs.

Polygon transaction fees use the EIP-1559 formula:

(Base Fee + Priority Fee) x Gas Used = Total Fee (in Gwei)

Divide by 1,000,000,000 to convert to POL.

Components:

  • Base Fee: Set algorithmically. Increases when blocks exceed 50% capacity, decreases otherwise. This fee is burned.
  • Priority Fee (Tip): Added above base fee to incentivize validators. Polygon requires minimum 25 Gwei.
  • Gas Used: Actual computational work consumed. Transfers use 21,000 gas; complex interactions use more.
  • Gas Limit: Maximum gas authorized. If exceeded, transaction fails but consumed gas is not refunded.

Polygon remains one of the most cost-effective blockchains for practical applications. High throughput, EIP-1559 predictability, and comparatively low POL price keep fees well below $0.10 for virtually all use cases.
